Procurement Hub is proud to have supported the development of Wellington Place Primary School, the second net-zero school in Leicestershire County Council's ambitious rollout.
This state-of-the-art educational facility is set to provide high-quality education and a sustainable learning environment for the local community.
Addressing Growing Demand for School Places
The rapid development of the Airfield Farm Housing Estate in Market Harborough necessitated the construction of a new school to accommodate the increasing number of families moving into the area. Wellington Place Primary School was funded through a combination of section 106 funding from developers and government grants, ensuring its viability and accessibility.
A Sustainable Future
Designed with sustainability at its core, Wellington Place Primary School incorporates a range of energy-efficient features, including air source heat pumps and photovoltaic panels. By prioritising fabric-first construction methods, the school minimizes its reliance on traditional heating and cooling systems. This holistic approach ensures that the building operates at net-zero carbon emissions, contributing to Leicestershire County Council's broader sustainability goals.
A Bright Future for Education
Wellington Place Primary School is a testament to the power of collaboration and innovation. By working closely with Leicestershire County Council, Willmott Dixon, and other key stakeholders, Procurement Hub has helped to create a sustainable, high-quality educational facility that will benefit generations to come.
